Frequently asked questions

What do I need to wear?

Please wear something comfortable. You may need to move around within your level of comfort, so something loose fitting is best.

It is often easier for me to be able to see the affected area as well, so ideally wear or bring a pair of shorts for back, hip, knee, ankle and leg problems. Likewise, wear or bring a vest top for neck, shoulder, arm and back problems.

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course - you are welcome to bring someone with you, who can remain throughout the appointment or whichever parts you want them there for. There is a waiting area for them.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

If you have any clinic or referral letters, or scan results from your doctors, please bring them along. Also, if you have copies of any scans or x-rays, again it is very useful if you can bring them with you for me to take a look at.

When are appointments available?

I can arrange appointments 7 days a week.

I can arrange appointments to suit your schedule, including early morning and evening appointments.

Please contact me directly to arrange a convenient appointment time.

Do I need to be referred by a doctor?

No - you can refer yourself if you are paying for the consultation yourself.

Some insurance companies do however require a referral from a doctor, so it is always advisable to check with your insurance company before you book your appointment.

How many sessions will I need?

No two people or problems are the same. Once the assessment has been completed, we will discuss the issue and give you a good guide as to the likely number of treatment sessions required. They are of course completely at your discretion and you can come as often or little as you wish.

Where is Performance Physiotherapy?

We are located in the Cotswold village of Painswick.

I have a private treatment room in our home, which gives far greater flexibility for appointment times for you.

Please click on the link below for directions and a map of our location.

Is there parking?

Yes, there is ample parking on the driveway of the house.

Is the consultation confidential?

Absolutely. Anything we discuss is kept strictly confidential. It may be best to pass certain information on to your doctor or other healthcare professionals, but I will only do that with your express permission before doing so.

How do I pay?

Please see the prices and payment page. I accept most card payments, together with cash payments.

I am also registered with most (if not all) insurance companies. If you have medical insurance, please check with your insurer how your bills are settled. Some insurers will pay directly, whilst others require you to pay yourself and claim the money back from them.

Can I have a receipt?

Of course - please let me know at the end of your appointment and one can be emailed or printed for you.
